About us

S.R. Wallace & Wallace is one of the largest law firms in Mackay and the Whitsundays and ranks with the large provincial firms in the State. The firm has a reputation for providing pre-eminent professional and prompt service with a practical commercial approach at all times.

The firm was established in 1972 by Mr SR (Russ) Wallace and Mr RH (Richard) Wallace and was based on the considerable experience and goodwill gained by the late Mr Russ Wallace during the preceding 20 years of practising law in Mackay. The firm now has over 20 solicitors, 4 paralegal conveyancing officers and about 40 other staff. The firm practises in most areas of law.

The firm is organised in five practise groups: personal injury claims, commercial litigation, commercial and property, conveyancing and securities and family law. Because our solicitors practise in one area of law almost exclusively they have a very high level of expertise in that field, which enables them to provide our clients with prompt and clear advices.

On commencement in 1972 the firm operated from premises at 132 Victoria Street, Mackay, however, by the late 1970s the firm moved to purpose built premises at 60 Sydney Street, Mackay. Since that time the firm has expanded to include not only the whole of that site but also premises in an adjoining building, the sections being linked internally. The firm has a policy of renovating on a regular basis to meet the requirements of the business.

The firm recognises that our people are vitally important to the successful operations of the firm. We have in place procedures to reward staff members for their performance, particularly those who make an excellent contribution towards achieving firm goals. Social activity is encouraged and staff may elect to join the staff social club which is supported by the partners. It is also important for staff to be able to have time outside of the working environment to enjoy family, friends and to explore the cultural, social and natural aspects of the Mackay region.

Management is carried out by an office manager under direction from the managing partner, Brett Johnson.
